Thus, I jumped at the chance when my friend Michael VanDervort asked if I wanted to join his existing podcast, DriveThruHR, as a recurring co-host to discuss all things labor relations in light of current and historic rise in union organizing.
For the record, Mike calls me a co-host; I think to think of myself as the show's labor relations special correspondent. Either way, once a month (give or take) I'll be joining Mike on DriveThruHR to discuss labor relations issues. We're calling it Labor Relatedly.
Mike and I recorded our first episode late last week, and it dropped on Monday. We compared the legal distinctions between reports of recent store closures by Starbucks and Trade Joe's, what's happening in the world of labor organizing in the craft beer industry, and whether it's legal to withhold pay increases to employees while a union petition is pending.
