According to a recent report jointly published by the Pew Research Center and the Imagining the Internet Center, almost half (48%) of technology experts believe that by 2025, robots or digital agents will substantially take over many jobs currently performed by humans. These same experts expressed concern that this displacement will lead to increases in income inequality, the unemployability of certain workers, and breakdowns in the social order.
So, readers, are we on the verge of Isaac Asimov’s I, Robot, or is this a pipe dream of sci-fi fanboys?
